One of the trams in Tampere is the Art Tram, which features artworks that change every six months. Last year, for the first time, the art tram also hosted short pop-up performances.

The pop-ups will return in September and will run until the end of November. Tampere Jazz Happening will take over the tram on Thursday and Friday 2-3 November 2023, with Tampere-based composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist Markus Pajakkala. He is a familiar figure from many Finnish bands, including his own band Utopianist. On Friday, Pajakkala will be joined by Matti Salo, a guitarist originally from Rovaniemi.

The Art Tram will operate on line 3 (Santalahti-Hervanta) on the days of the performances. The exact times of the performances will be published on Tampereen Ratikka’s [Tampere Tram] social media channels the day before the performances.

Other pop-up performances at the Art Tram for autumn 2023:
Tampere Art Museum: art clowns SuperrRuuti and Hötsis (Wed 20 September and Friday 22 September)
Lost in Music: Ville Veikka (5 October) and Satu Lii (6 October)
Särkänniemi amusement park’s Creepy Carnival: LudDance (Wed-Thu 11-12 October)
Characters from performances at Tampereen Työväenteatteri [TTT Theatre] (17 and 23 November)
