Spotlight on Germany

”We all love an exciting live moment, thought out from beginning to end, with plenty of room for playful spontaneity.”

– Rebekka Salomea Ziegler

”We all love an exciting live moment, thought out from beginning to end, with plenty of room for playful spontaneity.”

The performance is cancelled due to sickness.

Singer, musician and songwriter Rebekka Salomea Ziegler (b. 1991), who grew up in a bicultural and bilingual family of professional musicians, is the oldest and most experienced artist of Thursday’s German night. Ten years ago she already established her band, Salomea, to present her own songs in English, although their first nameless album was not released until 2018. In the manner of many music makers of her generation, Rebekka Ziegler is not tied to only one or two or at most three styles. For this reason, the music of Salomea is rather difficult to place, even if her own loose definition – Urban Jazz / Experimental Hip Hop / Contemporary Multi-Genre – provides something of a hint. According to Ziegler, a live performance nevertheless differs fundamentally from that of a recording, as “each concert is an opportunity to create something new and leave a unique memory footprint”.

In Tampere, the Salomea quartet will present pieces from their newest album Bathing in Flowers (2020), but also unreleased music which will end up on the next album currently being worked on.
