All Saints’ Day Weekend warmed up by Jazz

On the All Saints’ Day weekend, Tampere once again was a stage for music, when the Tampere Jazz Happening filled the concert venues of the Tullikamari Square with modern jazz for the 42nd time.

The theme country for the opening concert was Germany. The concert ‘’Spotlight on Germany’’ featured the singer Kira Hummen’s band and the quartet led by the saxophonist Fabian Dudek. Throughout the festival, German jazz was widely represented.

A total of 25 ensembles performed in Tampere during the four days, including Linda Fredriksson, who was presented with the Yrjö Award by the Finnish Jazz Association on Friday. Friday and Saturday evening events at the Pakkahuone and Telakka were sold out. On Friday. The audience at the Pakkahuone was especially amazed by Verneri Pohjola‘s new album –Monkey Mind – release concert. Saturday’s versatile coverage was crowned by Marcus Strickland Twi-Life.

On Sunday, Nduduzo Makhathini, among others, impressed at the Pakkahuone. The festival ended at the Telakka with the German band Janning Trumann X NOSACRUM, whose concert was also broadcast live on Yle (Finnish Broadcasting Company) Radio 1 on Sunday evening.

The estimated number of visitors was 4,200 and the occupancy rate was 96 percent. The next Tampere Jazz Happening will take place on 31 October – 3 November 2024.
