About

Tampere Jazz Happening is a four-day jazz music festival. It takes place every year at the turn of October to November. The Tampere Jazz Happening will feature a wide variety of jazz music, including free jazz, ethnic jazz and other improvised music. Feel free to join us, even if you are not familiar with jazz! You can check out the programme and listen to music samples on our artist pages (click on the picture or name of the band you want on the programme page).

Venues

Tampere Jazz Happening concert venues include Pakkahuone, Telakka and Klubi. They are all located very close to each other in the Tulli neighbourhood in Tampere. The Pakkahuone and Klubi are mostly international jazz venues, while Telakka features Finnish bands. You can find the addresses of the venues, arrival instructions and accessibility information on our info page.

Pakkahuone

You enter the Pakkahuone concerts through the doors on Pakkahuone aukio, which is on the side of the railway station. In Pakkahuone there are public seating stands. There are two seating areas: the ground floor seating and a rising stand. You are free to choose your seat. During the performances, Pakkahuone is quiet. If sitting feels difficult, there is also space to stand at the sides of the stands.

During Pakkahuone concerts, the audience also has access to the Klubi side, where food and beverage services can be found. You can also sit on the Klubi side, and watch the programme during concerts, as an image from the Pakkahuone stage is projected onto the Klubi screen. So, if you want to socialize with a friend during a performance, need a break from sitting in the stand, or don’t like the music of a band, you can go to the Klubi from time to time to catch your breath.

Pakkahuone has a cloakroom, in which everyone leaves their outer clothing. The cloakroom service fee is 3 euros, and it is not included in the ticket price. At Pakkahuone, there’s also a merchandise stand where you can buy festival shirts and bags, and if needed, earplugs. Pakkahuone also has other display and sales points.

Telakka

Telakka is a restaurant where you sit at tables. There is also some standing space available. The seats in Telakka usually fill up as soon as the doors open, so if you can’t stand, it’s a good idea to arrive well in advance. During the performances, Telakka is quiet.  You can order drinks from the bar in Telakka. The restaurant’s kitchen is open until 9.45 pm.

Klubi

There are both seating and standing areas for Klubi concerts. You can also watch the concerts from the dance floor in front of the stage. You can order drinks from the bar. The Klubi has a cloakroom, where everyone leaves their outdoor clothes. The cloakroom service fee is 3 euros, and it is not included in the ticket price.
